Construction engineering concerns the planning and management of the construction of structures such as refineries, oil rigs, floating infrastructure projects, highways, bridges, airports, railroads, dams, and reservoirs. Construction of such projects requires knowledge of engineering and management principles and business procedures, economics, and human behavior.

Construction engineers engage in the completion of a variety of structures, quality assurance and quality control, building and site layout surveys, on site material testing, concrete mix design, cost estimating, planning and scheduling, safety engineering, materials procurement, and cost engineering and budgeting.

When the big jigsaw arrives on site the construction is the most important part of the whole project.  The environmental savings can be considerable if the the planning and scheduling goes well.

The right amount of material, all the equipment in the correct location, the cranes and construction rigs utilised in the most cost effective way and critically important, manpower used in the safest and most efficient way.
