Construction is one of the main aspects of life that has a major impact on the environment.

Cement and concrete are two of the main constituents in the construction industry whose carbon footprint lasts for decades.

From quarrying, through the manufacturing process, usage during the building and finally demolition they are extremely environmentally unfriendly.Even with the recent increase in recycling of demolished concrete the energy used for the crushers and separators is extensive.

Major industrial projects cannot avoid using concrete for foundations and structures as it has good capabilities for load bearing using relatively small section sizes.

Smaller projects such as house building could how ever be a target for more alternative building materials.

On our Eco Construction section we are planning to include numerous categories of alternative building methods.

We welcome ideas from companies and individuals for us to publish to improve knowledge to people wishing to utilise more environmentally friendly alternatives.
